BLAKE2b, not SHA-256
Every block since 961,640 is hashed with BLAKE2b-256 under a 164-byte header. SHA-256 ASICs cannot mine it, so the chain is mined by new hardware, GPUs and CPUs rather than by whoever owns the largest SHA-256 farm.
Lazarus Pool mines Bitcoin. XBT and BTCB2 are the tickers. On 30 August 2026, at block 961,640, Bitcoin's history was carried onto a new proof of work: blake2b. The coins, the addresses and every block before that height are unchanged. What changed is who can mine, and how the rewards are paid. The pool is at pool.lazarus-xbt.xyz. This site is the chain, the wallets, and how mining works.
The chain
BLAKE2b resets the hardware race and hands template building back to miners. Three things define this network.
Every block since 961,640 is hashed with BLAKE2b-256 under a 164-byte header. SHA-256 ASICs cannot mine it, so the chain is mined by new hardware, GPUs and CPUs rather than by whoever owns the largest SHA-256 farm.
Balances, addresses and rules are Bitcoin's, up to the fork height. The subsidy is 3.125 XBT a block, halving on Bitcoin's schedule, with the same 21 million limit and the same 2016-block retarget.
Most of the hashrate here runs DATUM: each miner's own node chooses the transactions, and the pool only sets the payout split. Rewards are paid inside the coinbase of the block that earned them, not from a pool wallet.
Before you mine or receive XBT: this chain shares every block of history with SHA-256 Bitcoin up to 961,640, so an address holding real BTC must never be used here. Use a fresh wallet, kept only for XBT. Why this matters.

Open services, all free to use, all reading the same chain.
TIDES payouts in the coinbase, no accounts and no custody. Mined through your own DATUM gateway, with no pool fee.

mempool.lazarus-xbt.xyz →Every pool as a solar system and every DATUM gateway as a planet, built from coinbase tags. Hover a world to see what it mines and how.
lazarus-xbt.xyz/map →Lightning Stream lets people and AI agents pay Lightning node runners for a service piece by piece as it arrives, over ordinary XBT Lightning channels: a few small payments are locked ahead, each request releases one, and the unused ones come back. For pieces too small to pay one by one, a fair lottery pays the exact price on average.

Almost all of the hashrate here runs DATUM: the miner's own node builds the block and the pool only splits the coinbase. Pools publish their own setup guides — this page points you at them.
TIDES payouts in the coinbase, no accounts and no custody. Endpoints, setup instructions, live stats and your own miner page are all on the pool site.
pool.lazarus-xbt.xyz →Every pool that found a block this week, read from the chain's own coinbase tags, with what each one's blocks say about how it mines.
See the directory →Public stratum is a donation, validation and fallback endpoint. stratum+tcp://stratum.lazarus-xbt.xyz:23334 (and port 3333) takes a donation of hash at 100%, kept by the pool, confirms a miner connects while your own node and DATUM gateway come online, and is the fallback if your own gateway goes down. An address that starts there pays a grace at 25% for 24 hours, or 96 hours if it had DATUM work on Lazarus in the prior 30 days, then 100%. The clock does not pause. A pool that proxies its stratum hashers through its own DATUM gateway pays 100% with no grace. Your own DATUM gateway is 0%; the DATUM bonus ended on 24 October 2026. Solo stratum is closed. During the 45-day coinbase maturity window, stratum-hashing rewards on any pool are invalidated. The pool site has the DATUM gateway setup.
Where the chain is
Proof of work changes to BLAKE2b with a 164-byte header. Everything before this block is shared with SHA-256 Bitcoin.
Most pools hand template building to miners, and payouts move into the coinbase. The galaxy map shows who does which.
Bitcoin Knots 29.4.2 holds newly mined coins for 6,480 blocks instead of 100, until block 979,920. It makes hit-and-run mining unprofitable. What it means for payouts.
Bitcoin Knots 29.4.3 holds coins mined from block 979,919 for 25,920 blocks (about 180 days), each counted from its own block, until the RDTS expiry in September 2027. Coins mined during the first window still unlock 6,480 blocks after their own block. What it means for payouts.
Gateway operators build blocks from their own node, so the node's rules are the ones that count. Run Bitcoin Knots 29.4.2 or later: an older node will accept blocks the network rejects, and everything it mines on top of them is wasted.
6.33 G+2.9% in 1,059 blocks

Questions
No. It is Bitcoin's ledger, continued under a different proof of work from block 961,640. If you held bitcoin before that block, the same balance exists on this chain at the same address. It trades as XBT to tell the two chains apart.
Anything that can hash BLAKE2b: purpose-built ASICs, GPUs, even a CPU for testing. SHA-256 bitcoin miners cannot.
Pools running DATUM pay miners inside the coinbase of the block that earned it, so a payout and a block are the same event and no pool holds a balance for you. Each pool sets its own split: the Lazarus Pool site documents its scheme, fees and window.
Coinbase outputs always mature before they can be spent. Under the long coinbase maturity soft forks a coin mined from block 973,440 to 979,918 waits 6,480 blocks (about 45 days) and one mined from block 979,919 on waits 25,920 blocks (about 180 days, Knots 29.4.3), each counted from its own block. The coins are yours the moment the block confirms; they are only locked from spending.
Move to your own node and DATUM gateway. Your accepted work is tied to your address rather than to how you connect, so your place in a pool's payout window carries over. The pool site has the DATUM setup steps.
